A spa day is such a relaxing experience — wouldn’t it be great to go anytime you want? By incorporating elements of a spa in your home bathroom, you can turn that space into a restful and rejuvenating retreat. If you happen to be building or renovating a bathroom, it’s the perfect time to add spa features to your design. If that’s not an option, there are still things that you can add or change out in your bathroom space to make it feel more calming. Here are some common elements among spa-like bathrooms.
My friend once mentioned that her favorite designs include unexpected details. The bathroom is often a fairly predictable space, design-wise. But one way to increase the drama, sophistication, and height of a bathroom is to mount the shower curtain from the ceiling. Bringing décor strategies from other rooms into the bathroom is both unexpected and delightful, and a ceiling-mounted shower curtain is no exception.
This is a stunning design that I only wish I could implement into my own postage stamp-sized bathrooms. Its fantastically low-maintenance, completely understated aesthetic is charming (and enviable!). No doors required, this walk-through “hallway” style shower is easy to use and easy to maintain when the bathroom floor and walls are waterproof.
